Lesson 18 / 20
Hosting a Static Site
Host a static site for free with GitHub Pages from a branch or docs folder, with an optional custom domain.
What Pages does
GitHub Pages serves static HTML/CSS/JS straight from a repo branch (or a /docs folder) at a free *.github.io URL.
Turning it on
Settings → Pages, pick a branch (e.g. gh-pages or main) and folder, then save — GitHub builds and publishes automatically.
Custom domains
Add a CNAME file with your domain and update your DNS records to serve Pages from your own domain.
