Installing Node.js

Install a current Node.js LTS release with the official installer or nvm and verify node and npm on your PATH.

Check / install

Download the LTS build from nodejs.org, or use a version manager like nvm. Pick a currently supported LTS release.

node --version    # e.g. v22.x or newer (an LTS release)
npm --version     # bundled with Node

# Using nvm:
nvm install --lts
nvm use --lts

npm ships with Node

You don't install npm separately — it's bundled with every Node.js installer.
