# The Header and Links — Resume & GitHub Portfolio

> Who you are and where to find more.

## Contact details that are easy to use

The header holds your **name**, a professional **email**, a **phone number** if expected in your market, your **city or region** (a full street address is not needed) and a few **links**: GitHub, LinkedIn and optionally a personal site or portfolio. Make links readable as text (for example `github.com/your-handle`) so they work on paper too. Only link to pages you are happy for a reviewer to open: an empty GitHub profile or a broken site is worse than no link. Personal details such as date of birth, marital status, religion or a photo are generally unnecessary and in many countries discouraged; follow local norms.

## A predictable shape helps the reader

Reviewers find information fastest when sections follow familiar names and a sensible order.

## A clean header

Fictional person and links.

```text
MEERA IYER
Bengaluru, India  |  meera.iyer@example.com  |  +91 00000 00000
github.com/meera-iyer-dev  |  linkedin.com/in/meera-iyer-example  |  meera.example.dev
Not needed: date of birth, marital status, father's name, full address, photo,
            "Curriculum Vitae" as a title, an objective paragraph about yourself
```

## Use one consistent name

Use the same name across your resume, GitHub, LinkedIn and email so reviewers can connect your profiles without confusion.
