Installing Redis

Install Redis with a package manager or Docker and check that the server responds to PING.

Install the server

Package managers cover most platforms, or run it in Docker with zero setup.

# Ubuntu/Debian
sudo apt install redis-server

# macOS
brew install redis

# Docker (any OS)
docker run -d --name redis -p 6379:6379 redis:7

PING is the health check — a working server always replies PONG.

redis-server --daemonize yes
redis-cli PING

Output:

PONG
