Lesson 16 / 34
Core Web Vitals
Learn LCP, INP and CLS, Google's user-experience metrics, and how they relate to search ranking.
The three Core Web Vitals
LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — how fast the main content renders (target: ≤2.5s). INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — how quickly the page responds to input (target: ≤200ms; it replaced FID in March 2024). CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — visual stability (target: ≤0.1).
Why these metrics matter
Core Web Vitals are part of Google's page experience signals. They are one input among many, and relevance still comes first, but a slow or unstable page hurts users and can hurt visibility. Monitor and optimize these metrics continuously.
